Current limits on DNA Screening methods and how to make them more robust. [Potential-Info-Hazard]
Gianlucca Colangelo, Aaron Sznaider, Hernan Garbarino, Juan Cadile
We exposed a critical gap in global biosecurity by demonstrating how generative AI tools like RFdiffusion can engineer functional pathogen mimics.
To counter this AI-enabled threat, we engineered and deployed a novel detection mechanism based on ESM-C structural embeddings that accurately identifies these adversarial designs through high-dimensional semantic proximity where traditional alignment methods fail.
Our work delivers a concrete, scalable proof-of-concept for shifting the paradigm from sequence-based to function-based screening, directly strengthening the defensive shield against the rapidly accelerating pace of offensive AI capabilities.
We would like to attach our repository but it contains many sequences and structures of concern. We would like to do it carefully and not by giving a public link.
