Join us in Denmark
AI Safety Denmark

As part of the European Network for AI Safety, we make the Danish AI safety community available on this page! Come along.
AIsafety.com and Apart Research are mainly located in Copenhagen and work from the EnigmA co-working and other areas. There's a growing community of people in Copenhagen interested in AI safety and the Cognitive Science program in Aarhus is also quite engaged.

What happens in Denmark?
Regular events:
Weekly AI safety evening socials
Monthly hackathons in AI safety research
Bi-monthly ACX meetups
Daily co-working
Many EA social and talk events: Bi-weekly socials, monthly planning, co-working, socials, etc.
AI safety research: As it stands, we expect to have 3-5 full-time conceptual AI safety researchers in Copenhagen. We also have a community interested in working on AI safety research and several potential researchers.
AI safety community: We have weekly community events and monthly research hackathons as part of Alignment Jams. The hackathons also happen monthly in Aarhus.
EA: Currently, the EA community in Copenhagen is growing and we have full-time effective altruists in policy, animal welfare, AIS outreach, AIS research, AIS field-building, Nordics community-building, effective giving, and more.
Can I move to Copenhagen?
Yes! We are opening a co-working space that you can rent yourself into or, if you're working on AI safety, work with Apart Research in.
The Tiny Guide to Moving:
Most activities happen around "2000 Frederiksberg" if you want to find a specific area. This can be a bit pricey but Copenhagen has amazing public transportation and bike infrastructure (PS: Get a bike).
If you would like to move together with others, check out the Communication platforms below to coordinate.
Tips from a recent mover:
Use the Rejseplanen app for public transport, use the rejsekort transit card for longer-term public transport usage across Copenhagen and Denmark, and use DonkeyBike+friends as Copenhagen is so bike-friendly.
For apartment hunting I'd personally recommend skipping the meta-sites (or use them for browsing, and when you find a nice apt copy it's description into google/etc to find the actual source) and go straight to the mægler (home.dk, Heimstaden, etc). Once I did that it was actually quite easy to find an apartment.
If you're more budget-conscious you can try hunting the various facebook groups for a housemate, and consider pairing up with other[s] that also are looking and then find an apartment according to the previous recommendations.
Communication platforms
Write to the wonderful Elliot Davies at elliot.davies@effectivealtruism.dk to be invited to the local chats for AI safety and EA, e.g. "MLS DK", "EA Copenhagen", "EA Aarhus", "EA Denmark" groups and Messenger chats. Most communication and events are on Facebook.
Follow EA Denmark and Apart Research on Facebook to find upcoming events
International collaboration
We warmly welcome you to join us in Copenhagen
Join us in hosting hackathons for AI safety internationally with Alignment Jams
Relevant for ENAIS
We are always seeking collaborations both in the Nordics, across the pond, and have direct lines to London, Oxford, and Cambridge
There are direct flights to all major hubs from Copenhagen and a few people are regulars to San Francisco and London
