CEEALAR (EA Hotel) hosts global changemakers, providing lodging, vegan meals, and community. Residents pursue world-improving and risk-averting projects
What pursuits these may be will vary from person to person. Some grantees come to upskill—whether through formal programs or self-directed learning—preparing themselves to contribute effectively to high-impact causes. Other grantees are researchers, in need of stability and slack to pursue deep work (over the years, many AI alignment researchers have called CEEALAR home). Finally, aspiring charity entrepreneurs use their time at CEEALAR to develop new projects, often meeting potential collaborators along the way.
CEEALAR's commitment to AI safety has further deepened in recent times. From September through the end of 2024, the center will host the "AI Winter" initiative, featuring workshops, boot camps, and hackathons, all meant to advance research and collaboration in AI safety.
