OpenAI/Hugging Face AI incident is a cybercrime

I apply existing laws to the AI incident to show how regulators and wuthoritites can regulate AI and thus deter rickly unsafe behaviour from AI companies
Reviews
This research eloquantly points out a common false belief that current laws do not apply to AI systems. It evaluates what happened during the OpenAI/Huggingface incident under South African law and outlines precedent cases outside of cyber as well that these events are crimes under these laws. It fails to address that the US has similar laws like the CFAA and precedent cases in the realm of cyber.

The study evaluates whether an incident-history-reasoning defender outperforms a fixed response policy against an autonomous LLM attacker changing paths after containment. Using a minimal, isolated Docker cyber range …

AI incident-reporting regimes are being introduced in fast succession to address the concerns that exist in the public sphere and government on the risks associated with frontier AI systems, yet we have limited insight …

In this paper, I address the critical issue of AI agents escaping evaluation sandboxes (as seen in the July 2026 incidents where monitors failed) by proposing an externally audit-able containment layer that doesn't rely …
